1st Sunday after Christmas
Today is the first Sunday after Christmas, which is one of the most important events of Christianity. We need to meditate on the real meaning of Christmas. We do a lot to make sure our children get the best education. After they graduate and get a degree, what happens then? Unfortunately, there are those who graduate, obtain a degree, but do nothing about it. Isn’t this pretty much like Christmas? What’s the use of all the decorations, Christmas trees and celebrations, if we don’t really make use of what was given to us by God? The world and all it contains belongs to God. From the very beginning, Christ was already present when God gave us the light. Shouldn’t it be that it still shines to this present day?
We need to evaluate ourselves. What is the most important thing that matters? What has Christ done for us? Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible.” God created everything out of nothing. We need to know our priorities. God is the source of life. Christ’s coming was to bring back the life we are supposed to have. There is no higher court for any man to go to. God own everything.
People today still do not understand what Christmas is all about. In Him was life. And the life was the light of all mankind. Without Christ, it is impossible to experience real life. Everything without Christ is not life. It will not bring you real joy. Life in Christ is different. He takes us out of darkness into His light. Christmas gives us new hope, joy and peace. If things are unfavorable at the moment, we need to have patience because He will turn things to good. We think our problems are so big instead of seeing that God is greater than any problem. Romans 15:16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
What is the difference between the law and faith. The law is outward. It’s a set of instructions or guidelines that we can choose to obey or not. But faith should come out of us not as a choice but a decision. Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Birth comes not by choice. Every birth comes from God, because life comes from Him. Christ came to restore God’s principles. If we are of God, we need to follow Him. He will always be with us. He will not fail. When we look at Christmas, we need to follow what Christ says. It is not just one event. We need to see beyond this because Christmas was meant to change our lives.
