Speaking His Word Into Existence

Speaking His Word Into Existence

Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16
Luke12:32-40

9th Sunday of Ordinary Time 2025 Homily – Abp. Hines

God created man in His Image and Likeness, instilling in us with power and authority. And yet we are being deceived by the enemy to doubt these things. Luke 12:32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” Jesus came to fulfill this promise. But have we grasped the true significance of what He has done? Psalm 33:6 “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their lights.” Genesis 15:4 Then behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”

God created the whole world from nothing. But He spoke and it became. And it still exists to this very day. God speaks the Word into existence. This is saying to us that we should be speaking positive things into existence. Hebrews 11:1-3 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” God told Noah to build an ark. He had never seen rain all his life, but he obeyed God. Abraham obeyed God and became the father of many nations. Sarah conceived in her old age, she was way beyond her reproductive years. When God speaks, He brings things into existence. Ephesians 1:7-10

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight, He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He set forth in Him, regarding His plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.”

We need to stand firm in the midst of tests. Do not be afraid, for your Father has chosen and gladly given you the Kingdom. It is the Father’s good pleasure, His sovereign grace. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. He will not fail us. Sell your excess, give to charity, deposit in the Bank of Heaven. Are we ready or are we holding on to something and afraid of losing it. If we knew when the thief was coming in our house, then we would take the necessary precautions to prevent this from happening. But we do not know when the Son of Man is coming, therefore we must always be ready and exercise faith.

We need to have confidence that God will take care of us. When we find ourselves doubting, the answers don’t come easily. God has given us more than enough, but many greedy people have hoarded these blessings for themselves. Heaven is as close to you as your mouth. We should speak positively, and speak them into existence.
