Feast of Christ the King

As we come now to a close of the church calendar year, the church has designated this day as Christ the King. We are proclaiming Christ as King. If we look around at what’s happening today, many churches are saying different things. Liturgical churches call this the Feast of Christ the King, while some do not recognize this day as such. Others celebrate other feasts that are written in the bible, not really comprehending the truth behind it. And then we wander in the world being uncertain, fearful, not knowing what is going to take place. The one important thing that we must know is, Christ is King. Some churches focus only on the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Not totally wrong, but there is more to this. We must know the whole truth. He not only took care of the sin problem, but He also crushed Satan’s power under His feet.

Psalm 93:1 “The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD has clothed and encircled Himself with strength. Indeed, the world is firmly established; it will not be moved.” Do we really understand this? The enemy has made us weak when we do not fully understand the truth, giving us fear and insecurities. God’s throne is established from of old. Daniel 2.23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king. “Daniel 7:13-14 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Daniel 7:27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’

God gave us a name. He gave us a mission. We are actually in rebellion if we do not follow Him. God gave us life. He gave us His Kingship. We must be careful not to succumb to the deceptions of the enemy. John 5:27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. John 17:1-2, Jesus “lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you'” Most of us are thinking in the ways of the world when we should be thinking in the ways of God. Hebrews 1:8 But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.” Revelation 1:5 “and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.” The Eucharist gives us the dominion and power, more than just taking away the sin problem.

We must choose God and reject evil. Philippians 2:9 “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.” There is Kingdom, power and authority in that name. Luke 24:25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Hebrews 2:1 “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. “Our foundation is perfection. God in the beginning already gave us everything. 1 Timothy 6:15 which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
