3rd Sunday of Easter

We go back today to the first day of resurrection. Christ is risen! Will we believe and give our thanksgiving for His love? Easter should be every day of our lives. We read about the disciples discovering the empty tomb. And there were many other witnesses. Yet they did not believe. And in the midst of their confusion, Jesus asked them, “why are you troubled? Here are my hands and feet, touch them.” They had been with Jesus and witnessed many things and have been forewarned. Luke 9:44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” There was a major problem here. These were His disciples and the ones closest to Him- yet, they were having doubts. When we examine ourselves today, we also have doubts about Christ and what He can do for us. Many times we turn to other sources. He has destroyed the powers of the enemy completely. The foundation of Christianity was the resurrection.

This is where we see the eternal and divine love of God for man. Throughout the Old Testament, God has made Himself known. Jesus, seeing that the disciples were in doubt, asked for something to eat, and they gave Him broiled fish. Are we better than the disciples today? The way we doubt Him when things do not turn out in our favor? Jesus told the disciples that they are now the witnesses. That they must take whatever they have learned and go into to world to preach the Gospel.

Even when we are faced with failures, whether we believe it or not, Christ bore all the sins of mankind. If we reject this truth, there will be turmoil. It is important for the mind and the heart to agree. If two agree on anything in this earth, it shall be done by the Father. Jesus spent the rest of the 40 days before ascension preparing them. He told them not to leave Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit has come to empower them. It was known that all the apostles went to foreign countries to build God’s kingdom. We should be glorifying life instead of glorifying death. God had a plan. He not only took away their sins. He empowered them.

Easter is a declaration that He has conquered everything. We should stop listening to the enemy. Christ is risen! It’s time to believe who we are in Christ. God will not give up His creation. He loves us.
