It is Pentecost Sunday today. We need to believe that it is that which is established in our hearts. For most of us, we hear but do not really believe, otherwise, we would not be in the condition we are in today. We are seeking for what is good for us. We want the best for us. In doing so, we miss the value that God is greater than all these things. Many times, we do our own thing. When God gave Moses the commandments, these are guidelines for us to live a life that’s best for us. What God desires is that we know who we are.

The Feast of Pentecost was the memorial that God gave Moses the tablets. In the New Testament, this would be the giving of the Holy Spirit. God created everything in the beginning. When He created man, He set the goal for man to be like Him. He made man out of dust, out of mud and then breathed life into him. Jesus became flesh like us. For 30 years He was trained. He had to go through what a human being would go through. He had to be baptized, and when He came out of the water, the heavens burst open, and a voice came forth saying, “this is My Son in whom I am well pleased.” Then the Holy Spirit descended upon Him and from then on He was a different man. He had been empowered by the Spirit. He began performing miracles- healing the sick, raising the dead, walking on water. He was able to do all this because He believed. He also said the day will come when we can do all things He did, if only we believe.

Pentecost was the fulfillment of the Law. It gives us the ability to do things that Jesus did. Pentecost took place when there were 120 people gathered together in a room and they were in one accord. Tongues of fire fell and they were able to speak in different tongues and yet each could understand what the other was saying. The Holy Spirit came to unite them and to empower them to be able to face whatever problems they may encounter. Jesus wiped away the sins in our lives and healed us from our sicknesses. The one purpose we have the Holy Spirit is to win the world for Christ. The power of the Holy Spirit is so strong that we would be able to forgive or retain the sins of others. John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” We have eyes to see but we do not see. We have ears but do not hear. When Christ comes, it will be like the time of Noah. We really need to pay attention to the times.

God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Pentecost should give us the ability to be able to conquer problems. If only the church would be doing its responsibilities, we would not be having the problems we are experiencing today. We are supposed to be bringing them together, to show them what unity is all about. We should let the Holy Spirit breathe on us. Zechariah 4:6 Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of armies. We have the potential. We have the ability. It is Him in us. We have it in us already we just need to renew our minds and believe.
